Chemokine receptors are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and play a key role in inflammation and are characterized by similar sequences with a 4 cysteine motif.  The C-C family has the first 2 cysteines linked together while the C-x-C family and an amino acid in between the first 2 cysteines.  Historically, murine chemokine receptor type 4 (CCR4) has been designated as C-C CKR-4, CC-CKR-4, and CCR-4.
