Background: Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2, FGF-2), also known as basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF, b-FGF), is mitogenic and angiogenic. FGF2 plays a key role in wound healing, development of limb and nervous systems, and tumorogenesis. Historically, this 288 amino acid fibroblast growth factor family (FGF) member was known as heparin-binding growth factor 2 precusor and prostatropin. Specificity: Rabbits were immunized with human recombinant FGF2. Anti-FGF2 is able to neutralize in growth assays. Purification and Formulation: Serum immunoglobulin was precipitated twice by ammonium sulfate fractionation and then dissolved and dialyzed against phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.015 M sodium phosphate, pH 7.5, 0.15 M NaC1, with sodium azide 0.02% as a preservative. Storage: Short term storage at 4° C. Freeze at -20° C or colder for long term storage. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
