DATASHEET

Sheep anti–5-Methylcytosine

Cat #:

P00704

Description:

Sheep were immunized with 5-Methylcytosine coupled to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH). The antibody is provied as non-sterile antiserum or Protein G purified IgG.

Immunogen:

5-Methylcytosine coupled to KLH

Specificity:

This antibody is specific for 5-Methylcytosine
It was tested using immunoprecipitation against 5-Methylcytosine at 1:312,500 and bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) or a control (no antigen)

Cross Reactivity:

Species non-specific this nucleotide is present in all species

Presentation:

250 µg IgG purified. Antibody is packaged  with 0.15 M PBS pH 7.4. Sodium azide has NOT been added to preclude any potential chemical interference in use of the product.

Storage:

Aliquot and store at -70° C, once thawed store at 4° C with the addition of 0.1% sodium azide. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Applications:

Western Blotting, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry
Relative MW 125.13
Immunoprecipitation against 5-Methylcytosine (5-MeC) and bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) or control (no antigen) assayed by A-405 spectrophotometry shown in Figure 1 below. At dilution of 1:312,500, this product demonstrates 6 fold higher reactivity with 5-MeC versus BrdU and titers out at 1:1,562,500. For best results, use in dilution range of 1:100,000-1:400,000.

Note:

Denature DNA sample first so base is unfolded and accessible to antibody.  Link to Protocol
